Full Repair of the Roadbed on Road P1306, Prilep–Krushevo Section (near Slavej)

The Public Enterprise for State Roads has had full repair works executed on Road P1306, Prilep–Krushevo section (near Slavej), along a length of 920 meters. The project involved a complete repair of the roadbase, including the installation of stone piles (F800), placement of geotextile and geocomposite materials, construction of a crushed stone embankment, preparation of a base layer, and laying of asphalt layers BNS 22 sA and AB 16, as well as the construction of transitional slabs on the structures.

An on-site inspection of the completed works was conducted by the Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, Koce Trajanovski, together with the Deputy Director of the Public Enterprise for the Maintenance and Protection of Main and Regional Roads, Aleksandar Shukovski, Member of Parliament Gjorgija Sajkoski, and councilors from the municipalities of Krushevo and Krivogashtani.

Trajanovski also spoke with local residents who use this road on a daily basis, and together they concluded that although it was a relatively small-scale intervention, it resulted in a major improvement—because the safety of road users is always the top priority.

The value of the project, executed by Stenton Gradba–Bitola under the supervision of GEING, amounted to 1.4 million euros.

Temporary Repairs Completed on Damaged Sections of Hotel Bellevue and Hipodrom Interchanges

The Public Enterprise for State Roads has recently focused on the interchanges around the capital where significant damage had occurred.
Thus, through the Public Enterprise for the Maintenance and Protection of Main and Regional Roads, i.e., Makedonijapat, repairs were carried out on the damaged road surface at the interchange near hotel Bellevue and the Hipodrom interchange.

Specifically, due to the excessive damage to the carriageway during the past period, temporary emergency repairs were performed because the safety of traffic participants was at risk due to the extensive damage. With these repairs, we restored traffic safety. The large potholes no longer pose a danger, and this repair gives us the time and space to focus on the rehabilitation project for the interchange, for which an order has already been issued. This project will ensure a permanent rehabilitation and repair of the entire Skopje bypass road, including all entry and exit ramps.

This morning, the Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, Koce Trajanovski, together with the Mayor of the Municipality of Ilinden, Aleksandar Gjorgjievski, and in presence of the Deputy Director of PE Makedonijapat, Aleksandar Shukovski and the Head of the Department for Support of Director’s Operations Lulzim Shaqiri, inspected the works on repairing the damages completed in the past period.

“The repairs were carried out at the request of the Public Enterprise for State Roads and executed by the Public Enterprise for the Maintenance and Protection of Main and Regional Roads, i.e. Makedonijapat. The most severely damaged sections of the interchanges near hotel Bellevue and Hipodrom were addressed. At the Bellevue interchange, the exit ramp from Skopje to Ilinden and the ramp from Bellevue toward Skopje were repaired. At the Hipodrom interchange, works included resurfacing the interchange road, the entry ramp to the bypass from the Miladinovci side, and the exit ramp from the bypass toward Kumanovo. In total, 21,000 square meters were repaired, and 4,500 tons of asphalt were laid. The project, valued at 57 million denars, was financed through the program of the Public Enterprise for State Roads. I would like to thank the Municipality of Ilinden for their constructive cooperation, as well as PE Makedonijapat for completing the repairs. We will continue with performing temporary emergency repairs wherever necessary,” said Koce Trajanovski, Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads.

Trajanovski Announces Opening of First Completed Segment of Subsection 3 of Kichevo-Ohrid Motorway

The first kilometers of subsection 3 of the Kichevo-Ohrid motorway, which is under construction, have been opened for use. The Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, Koce Trajanovski, together with the President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, the Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski, the Mayor of Ohrid Municipality Kiril Pecakov, as well as numerous councilors, MPs, and citizens, attended the opening ceremony of this section of the motorway, which serves as a vital artery of the national road network and which will greatly improve access to the key tourist destinations of Ohrid and Struga..

“Today, figuratively speaking, we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel and the sunrise on the shores of our pearl – Ohrid. We can now reach it via the first kilometers of motorway, and we will do everything in our power to make the entire motorway available as soon as possible, even though there are still major challenges ahead. From Klimeshtani to Ohrid, traffic will flow on the left side under a temporary traffic regime, while intensive work continues on the right side to bring that part into operation as well. The construction of this motorway section is the most important move for the development of the economy and tourism in the region and the country, and that is an additional motivation to continue with intensified construction activities to realize this capital project,” said Koce Trajanovski, Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads.

Currently, construction works are progressing intensively on the other subsections as well, in accordance with the new dynamic plan for the motorway’s construction. Access roads are being rapidly built from Vrbjani to Slivovo, Slivovo-Arbinovo, Arbinovo-Izdeglavje, Izdeglavje-Pesochani, Pesochani-Novo Selo, Novo Selo-Botun, as well as access roads to the villages of Gorenci, Orovnik, and Mesheishta. The construction of these access roads is very important because the opening of the motorway section from Klimeshtani to Ohrid depends on their completion.

Bridge over the Vardar River near Bashino Selo Fully Rehabilitated and Reopened for Traffic

The bridge over the Vardar River near Bashino Selo has been completely rehabilitated and is now fully operational. This was confirmed on-site by the Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, Koce Trajanovski, together with the President of the Government, Hristijan Mickoski, the Minister of Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski, the Mayor of Veles, Marko Kolev, as well as regional MPs and professors from the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
This bridge is of vital importance as it connects several populated areas—Veles, Chashka, Izvor, and Bogomila—and sees heavy daily traffic, including light freight vehicles, vans, cars, but also semi-trailer trucks. The bridge, built back in 1971, showed visible signs of damage for a long period of time. Due to its deteriorating condition, the Public Enterprise for State Roads requested an expert opinion from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, which earlier this year recommended the bridge be closed and urgently rehabilitated.

At the beginning of the year, the bridge was closed to all traffic and later placed under temporary traffic regime while simultaneously the rehabilitation works were performed.
“After identifying the unfavorable condition, which initially led to the temporary closure of the bridge to all traffic, we rolled up our sleeves and began activities for its rehabilitation, as well as for monitoring the bridge’s condition, as we could not afford to keep it closed for long due to its strategic importance. We are grateful to the professors from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Skopje who helped install state-of-the-art monitoring equipment under the bridge, which tracks movement 24/7. Thanks also to the contractor, ‘Syntek Engineering’ DOOEL Skopje, who began the works on March 21, worked intensively, and met our expectations. Today, we have a rehabilitated and safe bridge,” said Koce Trajanovski, Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads.

Traffic on the bridge now flows in both directions, but caution is still advised for heavy freight vehicles, which use the bridge on a daily basis and are the main contributors to its wear and tear.
During the construction works, the underside of the bridge was treated, new materials were applied to the beams for their reinforcement, and the interior of the bridge structure was rehabilitated using modern solutions. Protective measures were implemented, damaged bridge girders were structurally reinforced and re-concreted, and extra support was added underneath. Steel elements were added to reinforce the beams, and steel connections were installed. The reconstruction was fully financed by the Public Enterprise for State Roads, with the total project value amounting to 29,045,170.18 MKD, i.e. approximately 472,000 EUR including VAT.
This completed rehabilitation of the bridge near Bashino Selo is expected to extend its lifespan by 5 to 10 years.

Trajanovski: “Macedonia is currently in an active investment cycle and is shifting from stagnation to a new phase of road construction.”

In Macedonia, the infrastructure sector is one of the key drivers of economic growth and of attracting foreign and domestic investments. In this regard, infrastructure is considered a priority sector, and the Government is actively working on creating a favorable business environment.

The Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads (PESR), Koce Trajanovski, participated in the business forum “Business Opportunities and Investments,” with a special focus on the sectors of infrastructure, energy transition, circular economy, technological innovations, and Industry 5.0. The event was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Italy in Skopje and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA).

In his address, he emphasized that the construction and modernization of road infrastructure in Macedonia is in full swing, and that although previously started expressway projects have been completed, work is progressing rapidly on all other projects outlined in the 2025 Annual Program.

“This is very important because we believe our strategic advantage lies in being a natural crossroads of two very significant corridors—Corridor 8 and Corridor 10. That’s why we need modern roads, high-speed railways, improved public services, and digital connectivity. This is crucial because I feel that in the past, very little attention was paid to infrastructure development and maintenance, which has left us poorly connected with the surrounding regions. Macedonia is currently in an investment cycle where things have started to move in a positive direction—shifting from a phase of stagnation to a phase of road construction. We are opening work fronts for all our project contractors and expect from them to respond with full commitment, keeping pace with our momentum. Our citizens deserve to travel on roads that are modern, safe, and newly built,” said PESR Director Koce Trajanovski in his address.
