Public Enterprise for State Roads (PESR): Improving Road Infrastructure and Undertaking Key Construction Activities in the Municipality of Delchevo

Several important construction activities are underway in the Municipality of Delchevo, financed by the Public Enterprise for State Roads (ЈПДП). To inspect the ongoing works, PESR Director Koce Trajanovski, accompanied by his expert team, Deputy Director of the Public Enterprise for Maintenance and Protection of Main and Regional Roads Aleksandar Shukovski and his team, as well as MP Dragan Kovachki and Delchevo municipal councilor Ivan Gocevski, went for a site visit of the road reconstruction and construction that are in progress.

Works are being performed on sections of regional roads R1302 (exit from Delchevo toward Pehchevo), R2341 (Delchevo – Gabrovo village), and on the deviation near Crkvenska River, where a design for rehabilitation of the damaged bridge is also being developed.

Under the 2025 Program, the PESR has allocated 20 million denars for the rehabilitation of a section of road R1302, covering an area of 10,200 m². The works include milling of the old pavement and laying a new asphalt layer totaling 1,400 tons.

For the section from Delchevo to Gabrovo village (R2341), 22 million denars are planned. A new asphalt layer of 2,120 tons will be laid over 12,500 m², with the construction of shoulders on both sides of the carriageway.

To ensure uninterrupted traffic flow until the full rehabilitation of the bridge at Crkvenska River, 6 million denars are being invested in the roadbase and asphalt layer on the deviation. Project documentation for the bridge rehabilitation is currently being prepared.

The contractor for all construction activities is the public enterprise “Makedonijapat.” The total PESR investment in road infrastructure in Delchevo for 2025 amounts to 48 million denars.

In addition, this year PESR plans to invest 155 million denars in the state road A3 section from Zvegor (Delchevo) to the Border Crossing Point with the Republic of Bulgaria, which is in very poor condition but will soon be revitalized as construction activities will begin this autumn.

With the rehabilitation of this 5.3 km section, better conditions will be provided for traffic flow—safer, more economical, and smoother vehicle movement.

The project includes complete milling of the existing asphalt pavement and laying new asphalt: approximately 31,000 m² for the first layer and around 55,000 m² for the final layer. Additionally, critical slopes will be stabilized and relieved of unstable rocky material, protective steel mesh will be installed, and new traffic signage and road equipment will be added.

This marks a significant step toward improving road infrastructure and enhancing citizen safety.
