• 1981 – 1996: Head of the Computer Center at MZT Hepos.
• 1996 – 1998: Founded and ran his own computer software firm for integrated information systems, after which he closes the company and goes into politics.
• 1998 – elected as a member of parliament on the majority list of VMRO DPMNE.
• 2002 – elected as a member of parliament on the proportional list of VMRO DPMNE. He terminated that mandate due to his new position of Mayor of Gazi Baba Municipality, where he strengthened the local self-government and its management by performing his tasks and responsibilities as a mayor.
• April 2005 – elected a Mayor of Gazi Baba Municipality by direct local elections with a four-year term.
• April 2009 – elected a Mayor of the City of Skopje by direct local elections with a four-year term.
• April 2013 – elected for a second four-year term as a Mayor of the City of Skopje by direct local elections.
• 2009 – elected a president of all self-government units in the Republic of Macedonia, i.e. President of the Association of Local Self-Government Units (ZELS).
• Former member of the General Assembly of the Network of National Local Authorities in Southeast Europe – NALAS for 4 years.
• Former member of the Commission for fulfilling the criteria for second phase of fiscal decentralization.
• Former member of the National Committee for the European Union.
• Former member of the National Council for Balanced Regional Development.
• Former member of the Committee on Urban Expansion and Waste Management.
• 2024 – appointed a Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads.
