PESR is repairing a retaining wall at an underpass on the Skopje bypass

Because of visible deformations and cracks in a retaining wall of an underpass on the Skopje bypass of State Road A2, the Public Enterprise for State Roads has undertaken activities for its rehabilitation. These conditions were most likely caused by inefficient drainage, which lead to water saturation of the embankment, especially after heavy rainfall.

An on-site inspection was made by the Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, Koce Trajanovski, together with his team, the Mayor of Gjorche Petrov Municipality, Aleksandar Stojkoski, and Member of Parliament Bojan Stojanoski.

The project foresees redesigning of the surface drainage channel to direct water toward the culvert; cleaning of the existing culvert; reconstruction of the central drainage system within the road structure; reconstruction of the left drainage; removal of the existing line, including manholes, and installation of a new pipeline; reconstruction and rehabilitation of the pavement structure; injection repair of cracks in the end column of the underpass; installation of additional weep holes for drainage of water from the embankment body, etc.

VATO is the works Contractor, and GEING is Supervision Engineer. The total contract value of the project, including 18% VAT, amounts to 18,486,234.00 MKD.

For the 12-months construction period, a temporary traffic management regime has been approved by the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Interior.
