The Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, Koce Trajanovski, together with the team of the PESR project unit and the Contractor, went for an on-site inspection of the works on Tetovo–Gostivar motorway, which is being constructed by the American-Turkish consortium Bechtel & Enka. Corridors 8 and 10d are becoming a reality, and their construction marks an important step toward a modern and safe road infrastructure. Our goal is clear – to connect the regions and countries through motorways that will bring economic development and a European perspective.
The Contractor, the American-Turkish consortium Bechtel & Enka, has been actively working on all three sections, and visible progress has been made on the Tetovo–Gostivar section since construction began on-site. Until now:
- Approximately 150,000 m³ of earth has been excavated, 310,000 m³ of fill material has been installed, 2,500 m³ of concrete has been produced for completing works on the motorway section;
- Around 1,200 workers are currently engaged on sections 1 and 2, with over 750 different machines and pieces of equipment in use. These figures also include subcontractors. At present, 60% of suppliers and 90% of subcontractors are domestic companies.
- To date, uninterrupted works have been enabled along approximately 9 km of the total 17.5 km of the Tetovo–Gostivar section.
Corridors 8 and 10d are not just roads – they are our connection to the region, the Balkans, and Europe. The construction of these new road sections is a step toward the future we all deserve.
